Fall Favorites
October is my favorite month. I especially love summer, as you all
know, but there's something wonderfully whimsical about the fall
season when the leaves begin to change in earnest.
Ironically, this was also my favorite time of year when I lived in
Southern California. It was now that I would start to call back east
from the beach out there to gloat about the weather on the west coast.
As I write this to you almost a month before you read this, I spent
the day on my beach in the sun on a calm, cloudless afternoon that was
reminiscent of Southern California weather.
I know what's coming in the next few months, though I approach all
months with a positive attitude, I approach this winter with a little
trepidation.
But you know me, I'll be outside any day it's sunny even in the winter months. If it's absolutely too cold, I'll sit in my front windows with the sun beaming on me inside.
I keep our blinds open all winter for the warming effects of the winter sun – something I don't do most of the year.
Herman tells me he used to ski and skate and sled and so look forward
to winter, but not as much as he's gotten older.
The weather was great for all my auditions in California , with no snow and rain only in February and March, which was the rainy season.
Terry is taking over typing for me now, and I can tell you right now she does not like winter. Summer is her season too. It must be an Aries thing!
I’m wearing a bathing suit, sunblock and am preparing to go outside soon, though it’s only about 48 degrees. I’m not worrying about overheating this morning. Terry is wearing a sweatshirt and long pants and as usual thinks I’m nuts over my attire.
But now it’s several days later and Herman is typing as per my dictation and Sam, my adorable feline, is laying in my arms.
This whole past week has been sunny and 80 degrees, which pleases me no end, since I spend most every day on the beach.
Within the past hour I got off the beach and as if ir was the changing of the guards, Herman’s daughter and grandchildren came down to the beach as I came inside.
It hasn’t felt very much like fall yet, but as you are reading this I’m sure the weather will be getting cooler.
Sam, my adorable yellow feline just settled down on my knees, signifying to me its time for a power nap.
I hope you guys enjoy October as much as I do.
