    Looking For Light

Well, we are going into the second week of February, and to me that means we are just 3 months from warm weather. I always think that this month is pretty much the homestretch part of winter. I guess that is wishful thinking on my part. I can actually remember some really bad snowstorms having happened here as late as April. Let us just hope that doesn’t happen this year. I actually have been trying to get suntan on my front deck this winter, but the problem has been that we haven’t had many sunny days this winter.

I was trying hard not to go to a suntan booth this winter, but I’m afraid I have gone because I have felt so light-deprived. What I actually do is get into the booth (which is a stand up type as opposed to the lay down type) and sit in a patio chair. My aide then usually helps me get situated so I’m in the optimal position facing the bulbs. I then ask her to put suntan oil on me followed by lip balm. Now I am ready to have the booth turned on. Which is done by who owns the hair and suntan salon. Her name is Teresa Johnson and she is great. She is here in Caroga Lake and will actually travel to people’s homes to do their hair if that’s your preference. Most everyone in this area knows of her, and if you get the chance, do go see her or call her. Her number is 835-2488 and she’s located at 201 Morey Road. Don’t worry, I spoke to her and asked her if I could print all her information and she said yes. So give her a call!

I started to write this to you yesterday morning, which was January 12th. I stopped writing when I noticed the sun coming out. It was actually a sort of mild day for mid-January, and I went outside and sat on the front deck facing the sun. There was no wind and plenty of sunshine, so it was an incredibly lovely experience catching some rays on an otherwise winter day. In contrast, today (the 13th) the wind is whipping big time and the snow is blowing pretty much horizontally across the lake and up this driveway and beyond. Clearly there will be no sitting outside today. Though, earlier this morning there was awesome sun beating through the windows facing south. So I basically took my sunbath indoors this morning in my bathrobe!

Getting back to my original thought, I really hope that we are just 3 months from warm weather. I think that this year any snow that occurs after March should happen down south so they can have that experience, since we have so much. Don’t you think so too? I wonder who needs to be consulted to totally change the weather patterns? I actually have heard that the North and South are to eventually exchange weather. Wouldn't that be neat? Except all the winter sports enthusiasts would be so disappointed.

And it would be weird not to have the change of seasons. Maybe we could somehow just not have as long a winter. I’ll try to work on that! Happy Valentine’s Day to you all. Talk to you next week.
