    Travelling With Sunblock

Here we are in the first week of July! I am proud to tell you that I am always wearing sunblock when I am in the sun. As I am writing this to you in June, the sky is very cloudy but it wasn't when I woke, so I made sure to put the proper sunblock on before I got dressed for the day. By the time I did get dressed it was totally cloudy and here I was wearing a bathing suit, a tank top and of course no shoes. I decided as I sat down to write and the skies began to cloud, I would need to change my attire completely. I haven't gone nuts and I'm not wearing long pants, but I am wearing socks and shoes and have taken off my bathing suit and I'm now wearing what everyone else does under their clothing.

When I looked at the calendar of this morning, I realized with shock that our summer doesn't begin until the third week of June. Am I the only one there really thought that summer started much earlier? I can hardly believe that can be true! I know I said before that the unofficial start of summer was around Memorial Day, and I know for a fact that that is incorrect, but I was really surprised that is started this late in June.

Are any of you guys planning to take a traditional summer vacation and take to the roads? I generally do not like to travel in the summer at all. My idea of a vacation would be in the dead of winter and that would be to somewhere warm and sunny. Something about being in the car during the summer months simply doesn't do it for me. I realize that families with children tend to take their vacations during the summer months, as the kids have the time off in the summer. I can appreciate this because when I was a kid we used to take summer vacations too. My parents also would traditionally take us out of school to travel to Europe and I remember one time go to the South of France commonly known as the French Riviera, the during this school year. My parents firmly believe that I could see if the United States on my own time. The our family trips which generally overseas.

I remember at this time thinking he was really too bad that we couldn't go to cool places like Disneyland, but my parents idea was pretty firm. So to exotic places we went. And oh what fun we had! It was only until my adult life that I really began to appreciate all those trips! Plus it was really cool traveling overseas and seeing really neat stuff into foreign countries that I had to make a report on our trip as an assignment for my having missed school for three weeks. It had to be a detailed report citing every place we had been. This to me didn’t seem that bad of a trade off.

If you are travelling this summer, have fun and drive safely. And be sure to follow my example and wear your sunblock.
