Computer Caught A Bug
is, Ive literally put nothing into my computer since
I bought it three years ago. Lately its not been behaving
properly in that it wouldnt open any documents directly
from "desktop." If there are any of you out there
reading this who have no idea what Im talking about,
Im just proving to myself that I can be a computer geek.
past Friday, (which is actually about a month ago as you read
this), Herman took my computer into Fulton Computer Company
in Gloversville, New York. I must say it was so weird not
having my computer at home with me. Ive become downright
spoiled, always being on-line with cable. Herman actually
brought his small laptop down from upstairs to keep me company.
But the thing is, I hadnt used the dial-up modem in
such a long time that it felt slower than it was.
happy to be writing to you again from my computer. Guess where
I really am right now? The plan is, Ill be in Florida
or in transit as you read this. I even made a special bathing
suit shopping trip for the occasion on Hermans computer.
It was very humbling to go back to dial-up. Im so delighted
to report Im back on cable (with Herman only having
to stay up until 1a.m. to get the job done). I on the other
hand was so flipped out I put myself in bed by seven so I
didnt have to watch the goings on to bring my computer
back to its normal self. The last thing I said to Herman before
I got in bed was, "Tell me when its working again."
idiosyncratic details of my machine include: a virtual fish
screen saver, wallpaper of a gorgeous beach on the ocean.
I also have to have coordinated teal message boxes, large,
easily read print, one click web surfing and of course my
Dragondictate which is my voice activated software package.
cheating now in that Herman is typing while there are still
a few kinks to work out. Next on the agenda when Im
done writing here is to load my voice files so the software
recognizes my words. Wish me luck in getting all the bells
and whistles on this computer back to where I had them. I
do hate change
(Sorry about missing the column last week-between
the computer problem and me chasing the sun, I totally spaced!)
