    The Bliss’s Came to Visit

Now how great is this? My eldest sister and brother-in-law came to visit with my niece and nephew. I love showing this place off. I don’t just mean our house, I mean the whole county. You have to remember, they live on Long Island, where all the prices are sky-high. So when they come to our little burg and see the real estate and even restaurant prices, it’s the reverse of sticker shock for them.

It’s always a pleasure have family come to visit, especially since I hadn’t seen this particular brother-in-law (hey, Howard) in several years. You know how it is. Everybody’s busy and nobody gets to see family as much as they’d like to. Especially when family is over five hours away.

Both my mother and other sister are at least eight hours away by car, so I don’t get to see family much. Which is why it meant the world to me that my sister and family made the effort to come here.

Seems to me, that travel these days is at a minimum. Especially air travel. I’ve noticed airlines going bankrupt and losing millions lately, so it’s not just my imagination. Take Herman and I, for example, we drove to Florida this year (not that I’ll ever do it again) but I guess we had to try it once. And of course with my wheel chair, it just makes any kind of travel hard.

Not that I’m one to stay at home. I have no problem traveling, it’s just the wheel chair that gets in the way. But even with that, I’m still on the go. Speaking of which, have I mentioned lately that I have been getting up and walking in physical therapy? This is with a lot of help on both sides of me. But get up and go I do. It’s very cool looking people directly in the face as I’m walking instead of having to look up all the time. My last tour was seventeen feet, and let me tell you, I am tired afterwards. And so is my aide and the physical therapist.

I need to take this opportunity to thank everybody at the Wells House, especially my physical therapist, Robin. That physical therapy department is really great. I thank them each week, but I want to publicly thank them here. So thanks, guys! It really helps that you encourage everyone there to do all that they can do.

And thanks once again to my sister and brother-in-law for making the effort to come way up here to visit us. Talk to you guys next week.
