    Award Shows I Have Known

For those of you who may be uninformed, the Academy Awards are on TV tonight. ABC television network at 8PM Eastern time to be exact. I’ll be glued to the tube for this one as I love awards shows, this one especially.

Jon Stewart is scheduled to be the MC host for the show. His Daily Show has won some Emmy’s and I like his style of humor.  He used to date a friend of mine, although I never met him while I was in Los Angeles.

So far this season the People’s Choice Awards have been on as well as the Golden Globes and SAG Awards. I may have forgotten some (there seem to be more award shows every year). SAG stands for Screen Actors Guild and I was a card carrying member when I was in California. Not that it did me any good.

I missed the People’s Choice Awards, but I’m happy to report that I got to see the Golden Globes in their entirety. I was especially happy to see Geena Davis win for Best Actress for her portrayal of Commander in Chief. I watch the show every week and was only sorry that Donald Southerland didn’t win an award for best supporting actor.

Last year James Spader, Candice Bergen and William Shatner won Emmy’s for Boston Legal, and I’m still enjoying that off-beat show. I think David E. Kelley is a master story teller. He made such shows as Ally McBeal and  The Practice, both of which I liked and hated to see go off the air.

I’m not as much into the Grammy Awards and certainly not into the CMA’s (Country Music Awards). Did I ever tell you I hated Country Music? Well, maybe “hated” is the wrong word, but I strongly dislike it.

I should also watch the Tony Awards since I did some off-off Broadway acting stage work when I lived in Manhattan, but I don’t really keep up on the current and popular plays, so that is wasted on me.

Movies and TV shows are my forte, not actually, television more even than movies. To be honest, I often don’t see movies I think I will like until they come out on DVD. That’s when I generally see them, so I don’t have any input into who should win for what movie.

So, at least you know what I’ll be doing tonight. Have a great evening yourself.
