    September is Upon Us

I recently had Herman check the 2008-2009 fall television schedule coming up.  It looks like there are a lot of interesting shows.

I’ll watch the standards that I love such as “Two and a Half Men”, “Samantha Who”, “Boston Legal”, Grey’s Anatomy”, “House”,” Eli Stone”,” Private Practice”(which is a spin off of Grey’s Anatomy),” Dirty Sexy Money”, (which came on last year that stars Donald Southerland),” Till Death”(which stars Brad Garrett who played Ray Romano’s brother on “Everyone loves Raymond”).

Garret’s wife on the show is played by the actress Joely Fisher, Who used to be friends with an ex-boyfriend of mine named Brad. I think they knew each other from working on sit-coms together during the pilot season out in L.A. I think she was in a pilot that Brad was in that was never picked up called “Mulberry Street.”

She is the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Connie Stevens.

According to Wikipedia, her parents divorced when she was age two and she was raised by her mother. She was unaware that she had any other siblings until sometime after watching Star Wars, when she was told that the actress starring as Princess Leia Organa was her half-sister.

She is a great counterpart to Brad Garret’s character, often serving as the “straight-woman” to his goofy antics. It’s nice to see a spin-off of a popular show that seems to be working.

There is a game show coming back this year called “The Moment of Truth” where the contestant sits in the hot seat with friends and family sitting in the audience right in front of them. The host asks very personal and embarrassing questions and if the contestant answers truthfully they win increasingly larger amounts. But the questions become more and more personal and embarrassing.

This is the only reality show that I enjoy watching and Herman can’t believe that I enjoy it so much.  Ironically, talking to my mom in Cleveland Ohio, she loves the show as much as I do.

There are some new shows coming on such as “The Mentalist”, “Gary Unmarried”,  “Worst Week”(which is actually based on an English comedy), and ”The Ex-list”(which looks hilarious from the previews).

What also is coming back is” ER” for it’s 15th and final season. “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader”, “Don’t Forget The Lyrics”(with host Wayne Brady), and “Deal or No Deal”(with Howie Mandel).

I remember when I was cast in the MTV never-aired show “St. Nick’s Flicks.” Actually in later years a different of the show was aired, but not what I auditioned for. I can’t imagine ever having really enjoyed being a “host,” or “V-J” of a show. But back then I’d try anything to get my name up in lights.

Here’s hoping the fall season turns out to be as good as the previews.
